IF YOU NEED transcripts for any scholarship application, please be sure to put in a request THIS WEEK!! We require a FIVE DAY turnaround for all transcript requests! There will be NO ONE in guidance during vacation and you will have to wait until after vacation if you do not request your transcripts this week!! Graduation Date SetThe Class of 2013 Graduation Ceremony will be Sunday, June 23 at Welte Hall, CCSU New Britain, CT Berlin Robotics Team Places 2nd at Louisiana RegionalThe Berlin Technonuts Team #155 were finalists in the Bayou Regional of the USFirst Robotics Competition. The Berlin team captured 2nd place out of 54 teams entered in the Louisiana Regional in New Orleans. The Girl Scouts of Connecticut Central Office Leaders are joining up with leaders from Pitney Bowes Services Solutions, Women's Business Development Council, and Mastercard to hold Camp CEO!!! This Camp is an exciting leadership development opportunity for girls throughout Connecticut who are 14-17 years of age. They will attend a 4 day residential camp experience with the CEO's of these companies and participate in team building activities, leadership workshops and creative camp activities. The professional female CEO's will also share their leadership journeys with these young ladies and help them develop their own leadership paths. The Camp CEO will be held June 30-July 3, 2013 at Camp Laurel in Lebanon, CT. More information can be found in the guidance office. On Monday 3/11/13 the school will follow a Friday schedule of periods, and the Friday CAPT test even though it is actually Monday. For a clearer explanation, see the CAPT Schedule page Prom Fashion Show FundraiserApproximately 20 Senior Students (both male & female) have volunteered to model prom dresses & tuxedos donated by local shops for the event. Students who attend will receive coupons towards dresses, tuxedos, florists, salons, and other local businesses. This packet includes descriptions of the many scholarships provided by local organizations and memorial funds in Berlin and surrounding communities. Click Here for the Application Form DUE DATE is March 18, 2013 AP Art Students' ExhibitBerlin High School is very excited to be able to offer its students the course offering of AP Studio Art for a second year. As such, students can focus their work in three different strands, Drawing/Painting, 2-D Design, and 3-D Design. As March is Youth Art Month, There will be an exclusive Berlin High School AP Studio Art show at the Sandman Gallery & Frame Shoppe located on 14 West Main Street, Meriden. The opening will be on Friday, March 8th from 6:30-8:30 and will run to Saturday, March 30th for viewing. The gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10am - 6pm and Saturdays, 10am – 3pm. SBM Charitable Foundation Scholarship availableSeniors: If you are a resident of Hartford, Tolland, or Windham counties and you are planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college/university in the state of Connecticut, you could be eligible for a $5000 scholarship from the SBM Charitable Foundation, Inc. Please log onto your Naviance account and go under the "College" tab and scroll to the bottom to view Scholarship List and you can review the eligibility requirements and download an application...if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ramirez or Ms. Belden the school counseling intern. BHS Expo Rescheduled DateThe administration and faculty of Berlin High School announce the second annual “BHS Expo and Eighth Grade Curriculum and Activities Night” to be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. Berlin community members are invited to attend the Expo from 7 to 8 p.m., while the grade 8 students and their parents are engaged in an orientation presentation in the auditorium for the first hour. For the second hour, at 8 p.m., the eighth graders and their parents will be guided to the Expo, which will feature display tables and booths organized by department stationed throughout the building. Upon arrival, grade 8 students, parents, and community guests will receive a site map that will indicate the locations of each department and co-curricular area booth. This event will celebrate Berlin High School’s extensive program offerings as outlined in the 2013-2014 BHS Program of Studies, which features multiple new elective courses including: Calculus Concepts, Finite Mathematics, AP Studio Art, AP Music Theory, Lifetime Activities I & 11, and Yearbook I-IV. There have been many exciting changes and improvements at Berlin High School, and the community is welcome to meet the staff and student representatives who help to make all of them possible.
