Girls 4 x 800 Relay Team Headed for National'sThe School Record setting Girls 4 x 800 m relay team of Katherine Voelpel, Michelle Grieco, Kristin Madeia, Jodi DiCicco and alternates Stephanie Parillo and Nicole Greico, qualified to compete at the New Balance National Championships in North Carolina. The girls will travel to North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC to compete. See the story BHS Pair Shine at Junior Achievement AcademyAutumn Edelson and Brian Thomas participated in a pilot Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Academy at The Hartford to launch an actual business. Fifteen students representing urban and suburban high school students worked for 15 weeks launching Kozy Toes. A board meeting and closing celebration was held at The Hartford, May 20. Brian Thomas, vice president of production, and Autumn Edelson, vice president of marketing represented Berlin High school with the utmost level of professionalism, leadership, responsibility, and work ethic. UpBeat Picnic to be held at Berlin FairgroundsThursday, May 30th from 5-8 PM the UpBeat organization will sponsor its annual Townwide Picnic. The picnic features Entertainment, Raffles, Popcorn, a Silent Auction, Prizes, a visit by Ronald McDonald, and of course - Free Hot Dogs!!! The picnic will be held Rain or Shine and Free Shuttle Busses will be available between Berlin High School and the Fairgrounds. Wear Red White and Blue to show your sprirt. Band Boosters Car Wash PostponedOn Saturday June 8th the carwash originally scheduled for 5/25/13 will be held in the BHS parking lot from 9:00 am to 1pm. School Bus Flashing Lights in School DrivewayThe Berlin Police Department would like to remind the entire BHS community of several laws regarding School Bus Warning Lights. You may NOT pass a school bus with its Red Flashing Lights On - even when this bus is waiting at the curb in the BHS Parking Lot. This is for student safety and is a State Law. Violators may be ticketed and face significant fines for passing the busses in our parking lot while the Red Lights are flashing. In addition, you may not pass the bus in either direction and you must stop at least 10 feet behind or before the bus with its Red Lights Flashing. Girls Track Relay Team Qualifies for NationalsGirls 4x800m Relay Qualify for New Balance Outdoor Nationals with 9:40.74 performance at Greater Hartford Invitational. This time lowers the BHS school record by almost 21sec from 10:01.29 set in 2006. The All-Time CT State record for Class MM is 9:39.30, so the girls will have a shot at history on May 29th when they run at the State Meet. Below are the participants and their split times. Band Returns from Disney with HonorsOn Friday, May 3rd the Berlin High School Studio Jazz Ensemble I and the Redcoat Marching Band traveled to Orlando Florida to compete in the National "Festival Disney" showcase. This year, Festival Disney featured schools from all over the United States. Despite the pouring rain, the Redcoat marching band premiered their brand new uniforms down the main street of Hollywood Studios. The band performed with great pride and received numerous positive comments from the judges. Summer Driver's Education Class Forming NowThe Summer Edition of Drivers' Education is forming now. See the Drivers' Education Page of this site for information on class times, costs, and dates. Classes begin May 29 and run through June 28. You must be 16 years of age. Applications and fees may be brought to the main office of BHS. Class registration will run until all 40 spots are filled - don't wait! UConn ECE and Tunxis CCP informational eveningAttention Parents and Students: Parents of students who have signed up for UConn ECE courses or Accounting I, Accouting II, Business Communications, and Intro to Business Technologies (which have been articulated with Tunxis CCP) should have received a letter from Mrs. Ramirez regarding an informational letter that will be held Wednesday, May 8th at 7pm in the auditorium to go over the registration procedures and additional information so that the students may receive credit both from Berlin HS and from UConn or Tunxis. The students have worked very hard in preparation for the evening and would love to have you attend! BHS Blood Drive April 23The BHS Ophelia Club is sponsoring a blood drive on April 23rd from 8-12 in the B-gym. You need to be 17 to donate and must have a photo ID. You can sign up by seeing Maddy Cirullo or Mrs. Daniels in room #107. The eligibility requirements are on the Red Cross Website http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements . One donation can save three lives.
