Band Boosters Car Wash

On  Saturday May 25th in the BHS parking lot from 9:00 am to 1pm.

Berlin High School Band Parents Association and the Berlin High Marching Band Students are sponsoring a Car Wash event. 
All Vehicles are $5.00.  

Proceeds go towards off setting costs related to Equipment and Uniform repairs, Event supplies and Future Band Trips.  
This has always been one of our fun events for the students so the more cars we wash the more fun the band members have!!

School Bus Flashing Lights in School Driveway

The Berlin Police Department would like to remind the entire BHS community of several laws regarding School Bus Warning Lights.  You may NOT pass a school bus with its Red Flashing Lights On - even when this bus is waiting at the curb in the BHS Parking Lot.  This is for student safety and is a State Law.  Violators may be ticketed and face significant fines for passing the busses in our parking lot while the Red Lights are flashing.  In addition,  you may not pass the bus in either direction and you must stop at least 10 feet behind or before the bus with its Red Lights Flashing.

Girls Track Relay Team Qualifies for Nationals

Girls 4x800m Relay Qualify for New Balance Outdoor Nationals with 9:40.74 performance at Greater Hartford Invitational.  This time lowers the BHS school record by almost 21sec from 10:01.29 set in 2006.  The All-Time CT State record for Class MM is 9:39.30, so the girls will have a shot at history on May 29th when they run at the State Meet.  Below are the participants and their split times.

Band Returns from Disney with Honors

On Friday, May 3rd the Berlin High School Studio Jazz Ensemble I and the Redcoat Marching Band traveled to Orlando Florida to compete in the National "Festival Disney" showcase. This year, Festival Disney featured schools from all over the United States. Despite the pouring rain, the Redcoat marching band premiered their brand new uniforms down the main street of Hollywood Studios. The band performed with great pride and received numerous positive comments from the judges. 
The Berlin High School Studio Jazz Band earned a "Superior" 1st place rating, as well as the "Best in Class" award in division AA. Additionally, the BHS Studio Jazz Ensemble received the "Silver Disney" award for the second highest scoring group out of all Jazz Divisions! These awards place the Berlin High School jazz program firmly among the "top" high schools in the country! 
On Saturday, May 4th - Under the direction of a professional disney conductor, The BHS Concert Band participated in the "Your instrumental workshop." The band sight-read numerous disney theme songs and ultimately performed "Stampede" from Lion King. This performance was recorded and then lined up with the actual scene in the movie! Mr. Bowling has a copy of the DVD if you would like to view it. 

Summer Driver's Education Class Forming Now

The Summer Edition of Drivers' Education is forming now.  See the Drivers' Education Page of this site for information on class times, costs, and dates.  Classes begin May 29 and run through June 28.  You must be 16 years of age.  Applications and fees may be brought to the main office of BHS.  Class registration will run until all 40 spots are filled - don't wait!

UConn ECE and Tunxis CCP informational evening

Attention Parents and Students:

Parents of students who have signed up for UConn ECE courses or Accounting I, Accouting II, Business Communications, and Intro to Business Technologies (which have been articulated with Tunxis CCP) should have received a letter from Mrs. Ramirez regarding an informational letter that will be held Wednesday, May 8th at 7pm in the auditorium to go over the registration procedures and additional information so that the students may receive credit both from Berlin HS and from UConn or Tunxis.

Spring Choral Concert

The Spring 2013 Choral Concert is this Tuesday, May 7 in the BHS Auditorium at 7:00 pm. The students have worked very hard in preparation for the evening and would love to have you attend!

There is something for everyone: songs in English, French, and Spanish, a Romanian folk dance, Robert Burns poetry, and even a little Billy Joel!

BHS Blood Drive April 23

The BHS Ophelia Club is sponsoring a blood drive on April 23rd from 8-12 in the B-gym.  You need to be 17 to donate and must have a photo ID.  You can sign up by seeing Maddy Cirullo or Mrs. Daniels in room #107.  The eligibility requirements are on the Red Cross Website http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements .  One donation can save three lives.

April Vacation is fast approaching, and so are many scholarship deadlines!!!  Guidance will be closed during the April Vacation.  IF YOU NEED transcripts for any scholarship application, please be sure to put in a request THIS WEEK!!  We require a FIVE DAY turnaround for all transcript requests!  There will be NO ONE in guidance during vacation and you will have to wait until after vacation if you do not request your transcripts this week!!

Girl Scouts of Connecticut & Camp CEO

Attention Female students ages 14-17!!!

The Girl Scouts of Connecticut Central Office Leaders are joining up with leaders from Pitney Bowes Services Solutions, Women's Business Development Council, and Mastercard to hold Camp CEO!!!  This Camp is an exciting leadership development opportunity for girls throughout Connecticut who are 14-17 years of age.  They will attend a 4 day residential camp experience with the CEO's of these companies and participate in team building activities, leadership workshops and creative camp activities.  The professional female CEO's will also share their leadership journeys with these young ladies and help them develop their own leadership paths.

The Camp CEO will be held June 30-July 3, 2013 at Camp Laurel in Lebanon, CT.

Revised CAPT Schedule

Due to the Snow Day on Friday, March 8, the CAPT testing schedule has been shifted forward one day.  On Monday 3/11/13 the school will follow a Friday schedule of periods, and the Friday CAPT test even though it is actually Monday.  For a clearer explanation, see the CAPT Schedule page

Prom Fashion Show Fundraiser

Approximately 20 Senior Students (both male & female) have volunteered to model prom dresses & tuxedos donated by local shops for the event. Students who attend will receive coupons towards dresses, tuxedos, florists, salons, and other local businesses. 

Date: Thursday March 14, at 6:00 PM in the Robert Long Auditorium,
The cost is $5.00 per person, and with the ticket purchase you will be automatically entered into a raffle. Prizes range from a variety of gift certificates to an actual free tuxedo rental.  

Students of all ages/grades, teachers, family & friends are welcome to attend!
